PRACTICE AREAS
Fridge, Resendez & Wise was honored when Dick Morgan joined the firm in 2004. Dick is involved in all aspects of the energy business—oil, gas, electricity, synthetic, and renewable energy sources. While he is active on behalf of clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Department of Interior, he also represents energy clients in transactional and litigation matters throughout the United States.
Energy Transactions—In addition to Dick's extensive experience in state and federal regulatory matters, he is actively involved in a wide range of energy transactions. These include matters concerning acquisitions, dispositions, maximization of revenues and profit enhancement.
Litigation—Dick provides counsel to clients on energy contract issues, including gas sales and gas marketing agreements. He obtained a multimillion dollar award for breach of contract from a gas purchaser who declared bankruptcy to avoid performance of the contract. Dick has represented oil and gas producers in complex contract litigation before state and federal courts on numerous proceedings.
EXPERIENCE
Related Work—Dick was lead counsel and active in the corporate and joint venture structuring of companies creating natural gas from coal. He assisted in crafting the proposals and negotiating government contracts for companies which successfully obtained in excess of $700 million of government financing.
Dick is a well-known writer and lecturer on energy issues. His treatises have been published in The Natural Gas Yearbook, Texas Law Review, Tulsa Law Journal, Kentucky Law Journal and numerous other publications. He is recognized in Who's Who in American Law, International Who's Who and America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals.
Dick is proudly married to Betty Lou Morgan.
EDUCATION
Dick received his A.B. from Princeton University in 1966 and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1969. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He practices in the Houston, Texas office of Fridge, Resendez & Wise.
